The following courses comprise the technology curriculum:

Explorations of Computer Science                                  Course # V145  

Prerequisite: None               1.0 Credit  ​​

Exploration of Computer Science provides learners with the requisite knowledge and skills to demonstrate competence in various Computer Applications and Internet functions. It prepares learners to use computer software, hardware, networks and the Internet. Learners will be fully exposed to computer applications including Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, and Microsoft PowerPoint. Students will also be exposed to programming and robotics.

 

Network Plus                                                                             Course # V850

Prerequisite: None                                                                         1.0 Credit

This course uses the Learn Key software.  Students will delve into the inner workings of the personal computer, and they will learn how they can be networked together to achieve simple or highly technical tasks efficiently.  At the conclusion of this course, students will be able to build and troubleshoot PC’s as well as be able to build and troubleshoot local area networks (LAN).

Web Page Development                                                               Course # TVD1

The Web Design & Development I course is an introduction to the design, creation, and maintenance of web pages and websites. Students will learn how to critically evaluate website quality, learn how to create and maintain quality web pages, learn about web design standards and why they're important, and learn to create and manipulate images. The course progresses from introductory work on web design to a culminating project in which students design and develop websites for local community organizations.


Visual Basic                                                                                     Course # V510

Prerequisite: None                                                                               0.5 Credit

This course uses Visual Basic.Net as its software package which is a significant upgrade to the widely used Visual Basic programming language; it incorporates many new features of the Microsoft.NET platform.  At the conclusion of this course, students are prepared to design develop, and deploy a simple application using Visual Basic.Net.
